Good morning and best wishes to all of us

And all of the beloved audience,
Alhamdulilah, praise be to Allah, the Lord of Hosts because of the mercy and pleasure He gives to us so that we can all come together in this room in good health and without getting the slightest hitch. Prayers and greetings are always sent to our Prophet Muhammad SAW who has struggled to bring us out of the dark ages. May we all be reunited in heaven someday, ameen.
In this occasion, let me deliver a speech entitled “corruption is an enemy to all of us”. Hopefully we can eradicate corruption and become persons who are free from corruption.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Corruption comes from the Latin corrumpere which means rotten, corrupt, destabilizing, twisting, or bribe, so corruption a is bad thing committed by public officials, politicians and civil servants as well as other parties involved with the abuse of office or authority for personal or group gain.
Our country is currently facing a very serious problem that is rooted culture of corruption in all aspects of our society, starting from the central to the local officials and even law enforcement officials that should be a watchdog joining to do the corruption and getting in the corruption circle instead. There are already many countries’ money which have moved into their pockets. They eat everything regardless of the small community that lives miserable out there. Their actions are very irresponsible, like a mouse that moves quietly and spent supplies of food.
Today corruption is very rampant and massive. Many people do the corruption individually or by a group of people. They take this country’s money as much as tens of trillions of rupiah. Their motives are varied, such as bribery, money laundering, falsification of data, and even abuse. Actually, there are many of the criminals who have been caught and punished by the government. However, unfortunately they only get a light punishment, only about 3 or 4 years, and that has not been cut by remissions yet.
It is highly inversely proportional with the punishment received by the little people who do not have any strength. For example, in Java, a grandmother who was accused of stealing some wood just got a penalty of imprisonment of 8 years in prison. It’s ironic, isn’t it? Our legal system is sharply down and blunt at the top. Why did all this happen? Of course there are games in this all.
Why is corruption not cease to occur even wider? Simply and solely reason was due to the weak law in Indonesia. Unlike in China, we have very light sentence. In China, the corrupt will be executed by being shot or hanged in the middle of the pitch and witnessed by the public. That is why China became the country with the level of corruption is very small.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Actually, the government has done a good step by establishing the Anti-Corruption Commission. Many cases revealed and dozens of criminals have been caught. However, the Commission is now weak and helpless because of a number of efforts undertaken by certain parties that weaken them. Current news is still warm in the mass media and electronic with the title of crocodile versus gecko. Anti-Corrupstion Commission is like a lizard, small and weak, and had to fight a crocodile that is as huge and ferocious. It is very unfortunate.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Many things that encourage the corrupt to do dirty acts, such as the lack of awareness of themselves, they do not have a sense of satisfaction, and the lack of religious values and supervision. Therefore, let us eradicate corruption by performing the following ways:
Setting a severe punishment for the corrupt.
Current law is not very effective, It is proven by the increasing cases of corruption. By providing severe penalties, such as the death penalty, will make criminals think twice to do the corruption.
Tighten oversight
Handed all things to the police and Anti-Commission Commission is less effective. We also need to conduct surveillance around us to keep abreast of the latest news. If you find any indication of corruption just report it to the authorities immediately.
Instilling the values of honesty
To eradicate corruption, we have to cut the rate of development by instilling the values of honesty to children from an early age so that when they are older, they will not do anything wrong like that.

That is all my speech about corruption. I, once again, appeal to let us eradicate corruption that is rampant in our country by participate in supervising and instilling the values of honesty to ourselves and our children.
